Initial Requirements

Procedure for initial setup of Outlook for the VCCS Exchange conversion: 

¨      This assumes you already have a POP3 client setup and functioning in Outlook 2003 with all current service packs and patches (including Ms Office).

¨      Your existing POP3 mail account will continue to be your default email account until we are ready to convert to the new email system in early June. After completing this procedure:

o       Your client will be ready for the change of mail service to MS Exchange

o       Calendar functionality is available before the changeover of mail service

¨      This procedure sets up your Outlook client for MAPI connectivity which provides the highest level of client functionality under Exchange.

¨      Your new user account will become your LAN account as phase 2 of this plan.  All users are being migrated to Active Directory to the VCCS.edu domain.

¨      Due to the migration method of deploying email first, we cannot set your account to force a change of your initial generic password. Each user is responsible for initially changing they’re own password using the procedure below.
