Outage List Subscription

ITS has moved to self-managed list for receiving system outage notifications. To facilitate this process the following distribution list (described below) has been created on Mailman to allow college staff to subscribe to receive appropriate VCCS system and service announcements.

  • VCCS-Outages: Its purpose is to communicate all service interruptions/outages involving VCCS primary production systems to college personnel who desire to receive these messages as well as miscellaneous planned outages and service interruptions of non-production systems. It is intended primarily for functional and technical groups.

 

This new distribution list was initiated on April 13, 2007.  Below are instructions on how to subscribe and unsubscribe to this list. Staff should self-subscribe to this new list in order to receive ITS notifications and announcements regarding enterprise services.

Instructions to Subscribe:

  1. Go to https://lists.vccs.edu/lists/listinfo/vccs-outages
  2. Enter your email address and name in the fields provided.
  3. Enter a password
  4. You will see a confirmation screen and receive an email confirming your subscription.

Instructions to Unsubscribe:

  1. Go to https://lists.vccs.edu/lists/listinfo/vccs-outages
  2. Go to the bottom of the page under “VCCS-Outages Subscribers” and enter your email address in the box provided.
  3. You will receive a confirmation email that you have been removed from the list.

Please be aware there is another list called, VCCS-Critical-Outages, this list will only receive communication of “critical” outages involving VCCS primary production systems.  Its purpose is to communicate major outages to the College’s Executive group and other college personnel who desire to receive these messages.

This list, VCCS-Outages, is a member of the VCCS-Critical-Outages and will receive all critical outage notifications sent to the VCCS-Critical-Outages list as well as any other miscellaneous planned outages, service interruptions, and announcements relating to production and non-production systems. There is no need to subscribe to both lists in order to receive "critical" messages. The VCCS-Outages list is primarily intended for functional and technical groups/users.
