VCCS ITS will be hosting two regional workshops in December to provide an overview of the Version 8 Student Information System (SIS). The purpose of these workshops is to allow key college staff members to become familiarized with the upgraded SIS before acceptance testing and local training activities begin. Instructors—volunteer staff members from VCCS colleges—will provide a real-time walkthrough of the web-based Version 8 SIS layout and functionality.
Volunteers for instructor roles include:
AA/AR/SR: Sue Cooley – LFCC, Cathy Barker – BRCC (Consultant: Kathy Harcum)
FA: Laurie Schiavone – JTCC, Cathy Swain – VWCC (Consultant: Kathy Camper)
SF: Myra Maiorana – TCC, John Thornburg – TCC (Consultant: Linda Silver)
Query/Reports: Misty Coles, Imad Abi-Falah
SIS Support: Imad Abi-Falah, Carol Childress, Julie DeLong, Becci Howanietz
The workshops will consist of: a general overview session and then will break up into five specific training sessions including Student Records, Student Financials, Financial-Aid, Query/Reports, and SIS Support. These break-out sessions will be held three times per workshop day to allow attendance at multiple sessions. The content of these workshops is geared towards college SIS Project Coordinators, lead functional staff, Customer Support Liaisons, and lead help desk staff (facilities can handle an average of 7 attendees per college).
The workshop dates, times, and locations are as follows:
1) December 6, 2004, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm: Paul D. Camp Community College, Franklin, VA
2) December 14, 2004, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm: Greenfield Education and Training Center, Daleville, VA
A Version 8 Training Website and on-line registration form will be available soon. Please mark your calendars!
